Inability to unambiguously express consent

CW: Sexual assault, ignoring consent, rapey situation, add more.

Let's say there's someone very attractive, and they are into me, and we cuddle up a bit, and they want to kiss me.  I'm cool with that, so yes.

But while I'm kissing them, I start getting uncomfortable about where this is going.  Will they want more?  It occurs me to that they consistently bad-mouth previous flings and... oh man, I'm on the path to become a previous fling eventually.

That kinda kills the mood for me.

So I could say, "Sorry, I want to stop kissing and cuddling now and probably forever, please respect that", but then I realize that there's a high chance that will *definitely* make me the subject of bad-mouthing, with them getting all their friends to agree about how I'm an erratic and untrustworthy person or whatever.  And if I push them away, they might accuse me of being physically rough to them and break my reputation that way.

So instead I try to figure out the safest way to extricate myself from this situation without making them upset.

You can figure out how this story goes, but it doesn't involve me unambiguously stopping them.
